Envelope Printing
A digital press that happens to print envelopes - so the outer piece gets the same color, the same short runs and the same personalization as everything else in the job.
The envelope is the only part of a mailing that is guaranteed to be seen. It is also the part most often left plain, because for a long time printing one in full color meant plates, a minimum order and a lead time that did not fit the rest of the job.
We run a dedicated envelope press, and we think of it as a digital press rather than a piece of mailing equipment. That distinction matters: it means an envelope can be ordered the way you would order anything else digital — in the quantity you actually need, in as many versions as the job has, with a name on it if that is what the piece calls for.
Since January 2023 we have run more than four hundred jobs with envelopes in them, and the count has gone up every year. Most are not mailings at all — they are stationery, invitations, reply envelopes and the outer piece of something else we were already printing.
Why it is on this page and not the mailing one
A press, not an accessory
Full color, not a corner logo
The whole face of the envelope is printable - photography, a full bleed, a color that runs to the edge. It is the piece that decides whether the rest gets opened.
No plates, so no setup penalty
Five hundred envelopes cost what five hundred envelopes should cost. Short runs and reprints stop being something you batch up and wait on.
Versions, without a second job
One design, a different address block, office or offer on each run - or personalized one at a time, because the same variable data that drives a letter drives the envelope it goes in.
Printed where the rest of the job is
The envelope matches the letterhead and the card because they were made in the same building, in the same week, off the same file.
What we run
Sizes and styles
Taken from what has actually gone through here rather than from a list of everything that exists. Plain, window and security tint across the business sizes.
#10
Business, plain or window. The one we run most.
#9 and #6¾
Reply and remittance envelopes, usually running with the piece they return to.
A2, A6, A7
Invitation and announcement sizes, with the notecards to match.
6×9, 9×12, 10×13
Booklet and catalog envelopes for anything that will not fold.

Where it usually fits
Rarely ordered on its own
Look at what we actually print and the envelope is almost always half of something: letterhead and envelopes, a card and its envelope, a notecard set, an appeal with a remittance envelope inside it, an invitation with the outer and the reply.
That is the argument for having it here rather than buying it separately. One file set, one color standard, one schedule — and when the piece is a mailing, it goes straight down the hall to the mailing line rather than to a truck. If the envelope needs a name and address on each one, that is the same variable data work that drives the letter inside it.
Send us the envelope with the rest of the job
Tell us the size, whether it needs a window, how many, and what it is going with. If it is going in the mail, tell us that too and we will quote it as one thing rather than three.
